NoLima is a navigation app that checks every GPS fix for spoofing and jamming and guides you on a position it can trust. It works on your iPhone and in CarPlay. NoLima has no accounts, no analytics, no ads and no tracking. The developer runs one small server, which passes Ukraine’s official air alerts to the app; it receives none of your data.
What data is used, and where it goes
| Data | Why NoLima uses it | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Your location | To detect GPS spoofing or jamming, show your position and guide you along a route. | Stays on your iPhone |
| Motion sensors | Gyroscope, accelerometer and motion activity are compared with GPS to catch fake tracks, and carry your position on (inertial navigation) when no usable position is available. | Stays on your iPhone |
| Search text, route endpoints and the road ahead | To find places and calculate routes with Apple Maps services. While you drive without a route, or off your route without GPS, your position and a point about 1 km ahead are also sent to Apple Maps every now and then, to find the road you're on, so your marker stays on it. | Sent to Apple |
| Your IP address | For the IP location check, part of spoofing detection: a request to GeoJS returns the approximate city of your internet connection, which is compared with GPS to catch a position on the wrong continent. | Seen by GeoJS |
| Air alerts | To show the air alert where you are: every 30 seconds while NoLima runs in Ukraine, the app downloads the list of active alerts for the whole country and finds yours on your iPhone, using the official region boundaries built into the app. The request carries no position, identifier or other data — only the IP address every web request carries. Turn it off in Settings › Air alerts. | Seen by NoLima’s alert server |
| Recent and saved places | The last 20 places you navigated to, and the places you save as Home and Work, so you can start a route again on your iPhone or in CarPlay. Delete a recent place with a swipe, or all of them with Clear; remove Home or Work by touching and holding it. | Stays on your iPhone |
| GPS history | Where GPS was spoofed, jammed or lost while you drove: the time, the kind of problem and the positions NoLima trusted (never the fake GPS position). Used to warn you when a planned route passes those places. Kept 180 days; turn it off or clear it in Settings › GPS history. | Stays on your iPhone |
| Drive memory | Your drives: the positions NoLima trusted while you drove, the Wi-Fi/cell positions, the fixes you set by hand and where your routes went. From them NoLima learns how fast each road is driven and where cars stop, to keep your position better without GPS. Drives are kept 180 days, what NoLima learned from them until you reset it; turn it off, forget your drives or reset everything in Settings › Drive memory. | Stays on your iPhone |
| Your voice (optional) | Only when you tap the microphone to say where you want to go: speech is turned into text on your iPhone, and translated there when you use a language other than English. The audio never leaves your iPhone. | Stays on your iPhone |
| Assistant requests | When the assistant plans a trip or words a route warning, the text of the request (what you said, place names, nearby positions) is processed by Apple Intelligence: on your iPhone, or on Apple’s Private Cloud Compute, which keeps nothing and which neither Apple nor the developer can access. | Sent to Apple’s Private Cloud Compute |
| Drive recordings (optional) | Only if you turn on Record routes for testing in Settings, or tap “GPS jammed”: positions, motion sensor readings and the event log are saved to a file, to improve detection and inertial navigation. Off by default; delete them in Settings. NoLima deletes recordings older than 30 days by itself. | Stays on your iPhone unless you share it |
| Settings and event log | Your preferences, and a technical log of detector decisions for troubleshooting. | Stays on your iPhone |
Scroll the table sideways on a narrow screen.
Location
NoLima asks for location access only while you use the app. Once you open it, it keeps checking GPS when the screen is locked or you switch apps, so guidance and spoofing alerts continue. iOS shows its location indicator while this happens. It stops when you close the app. NoLima never asks for “Always” access and never starts itself in the background.
Your location is processed on your iPhone and is never sent to the developer. When you plan a route, the start point (your current position) and the destination are sent to Apple to calculate it. While you drive without a route, or off your route without GPS, NoLima asks Apple Maps for the road ahead of you — your position and a point about 1 km ahead, at most every 15 seconds and only when it needs a new stretch of road — so your marker stays on the road.
The air alert for where you are is found on your iPhone too: NoLima downloads the alerts for all of Ukraine and matches them to your position there, so the alert server never learns where you are.
Services NoLima relies on
- Apple Maps (MapKit). Map display, place search and routing are provided by Apple. Apple handles that data under the Apple Privacy Policy.
- GeoJS. The IP location check sends a plain request to get.geojs.io. Like any web request it carries your IP address; NoLima adds no identifiers, location or other data. The check repeats when your network changes and every 15 minutes, and pauses while a VPN is active.
- Air alerts: Повітряна тривога and NoLima’s server. Alerts come from the official Повітряна тривога service (ukrainealarm.com) through the developer’s server at api.pexper.com, which fetches the national list once a minute and passes it on. The server doesn’t log or store requests and never receives your position. It is hosted by Netlify, which handles requests under the Netlify Privacy Policy.
- Apple Intelligence. The assistant uses Apple’s language models, on your iPhone or on Private Cloud Compute: requests are processed only to answer them, aren’t stored, and can’t be accessed by Apple or the developer. Speech recognition and translation run on your iPhone.
- Apple system features. Live Activities (Lock Screen, Dynamic Island, Apple Watch, CarPlay Dashboard), CarPlay and spoken directions are rendered by iOS on your devices.
Event log
NoLima keeps a log of the last 2,000 or so detector and navigation events on your iPhone for troubleshooting. They include positions and times. The log leaves your iPhone only if you tap Share and choose where to send it.
TestFlight beta
If you test NoLima through TestFlight, Apple may share crash reports, device and app version details, and any feedback or screenshots you choose to send with the developer, under Apple’s privacy terms for TestFlight. They are used only to fix and improve NoLima.
Children
NoLima is not directed to children under 13 and collects no personal data from anyone.
Changes to this policy
If NoLima starts handling data differently, this page will be updated and the effective date above will change before the new version ships.
